Amy Blackthorn has been described as an "arcane horticulturalist" for her lifelong work with magical plants and teaching of Hoodoo. She incorporates her experiences in British Traditional Witchcraft with her horticulture studies. The boy and I are super exited to discover many new things and learn more about botanical magic. My husband and I have a working knowledge of herbs and essential oils but I am not as confidant in the craft as he. I'm almost done with the book and realize that I know more than I give myself credit for. Amy's writing style is how she talks and while reading the book I heard her narration in my head. Just for that the book is utterly fantastic and I can't get enough.Section six- oils from a to z is such an easy reference from the novice to the expert. I Love the layout and I want to break out the highlighters and colored pens to add my notes and helpful hints for future reference.I cannot sing enough praises. Thank you for this and thank you for existing, Amy.

I pre- ordered this gem, & I'm so glad I did! It's the most thorough, well- written, yet easy to understand guide to essential oils, their origins, uses, determining quality, safe handling, etc. that I've ever read. Even though it was written with the *pagan* community in mind, ANYBODY & EVERYBODY can benefit from the knowledge & enjoy using the recipes & blends Amy has included in this book. I cannot recommend it enough! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

When i saw that this book was available I could not wait to get my hands on it. I have not been disappointed. A wealth of information in an easy to access and read format. The title page for each herb gives a quick overview of what you can expect which is then expanded upon as you read through each chapter and recipe.

Do yourself a favor: pick up this book. If you are looking for an amazing herbal grimoire filled with lore, medicinal uses, and recipes for oils/incense/cooking, this is your one-stop shopping. The sheer VOLUME of information looks overwhelming (spoilers: it is) but Ms. Blackthorn's turn of phrase will put you at ease quickly. The index is wonderfully cross-referenced and I've already started to compile my shopping list of oils to make several of the blends. Each herb/blend includes the Latin name for the specific type of the specific herb/flower, so you know exactly what you should have on hand. All in all, a wonderful addition to any herbal witch's bookshelf! One pass through is not enough. This is definitely a book I will continue to return to over and over again.

This book is the definitive encyclopedia of how to use and blend essential oils for mental health, clarity and to alleviate mental stress. I have this book highlighted and bookmarked, there's so much crucial information and the author is an incredible guide. It flows almost like a cookbook as research is provided on each herb, oil; how it was used in the past and the benefits for today's user. It'll always be my go-to book on the topic and sits on a shelf close by in my bedroom.

The information is presented in a clear and concise manner, with little to no ambiguity. I would imagine the content is equally useful to the seasoned practitioner as it is to the beginner. A much better executed project than is predecessors in the genre.

After donating some books, and others being ruined by flood damage, I needed to rebuild both my magical and botanical libraries. I was overjoyed to hear that Amy was writing this book, and I have not been disappointed. She writes with humor, a refreshing break from the usual solemnity found in such books. It did not interfere with her ability to present clear practical uses for botanical and other materials. She also gives wonderful suggestions for the integration of oils into spellcraft, showing exactly where they fit in. A wonderful book that I hope to use to introduce my 13 year old son to the wider world of magic, and the everyday uses of its accouterments.

This is one of the best books in my witchy book collection for working with herbs. I'm so glad I got this book and would recommend it to not just witches, but to anyone who is interested in working with herbs. Very thorough and easy to use. Thank you for writing this book, Amy Blackthorn!
