It provides further understanding of the Lutheran Religion. As an adult convert from Roman Catholicism into the Missouri Synod Lutheran Faith by 'Affirmation', I possessed the mistaken idea that I really didn't need to readjust my belief system too much... Golly, was I wrong. It didn't just involve the 'what did' Dr Luther teach, it's the Biblically-based 'why did' he teach it that is so stunningly soul satisfying to me. Over the past 14 years I've suffered from 'Foot-In-Mouth-Disease', asking many 'ignorant' questions (I thank God that I was amongst friends) in our church's many weekly Bible Study or annual 'Lay Leadership' Courses... Oh Man!! I should have bought this book, for 'The Cure', 14 years ago...

Perfect. Love ❤️ it better than electronic version. Pick it up any time and start where I left off. So deep for me. Gives me plenty to meditate on. Onlike the scanning at a younger age. And so much more to digest than the Small Catechism.

This Baltimore Catechism is the catechism of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, written for Catholic school children in the United States. This volume, as the previous one, begins with the traditional prayers (Apostles Creed, the Our Father, the Hail Mary, Glory Be, Acts of Contrition, Love, Faith, et cetera). The chapters are broken down in discussing The Ten Commandments, the Sacraments, sins, Laws of the Church, and the like. At the back of this volume are traditional hymns.It is easy to understand, with questions and more in-depth answers that relate to the subject matter in each chapter. This is the catechism to read to learn (or brush up on) of the true tenants of the Church, not the New Church of Vatican II.This volume is written for the next level – more advanced—Roman Catholic student. Each successive volume (through number 4) is more in-depth and appropriate to the student’s grade level.

Expanded version of the catechism upon which is based the doctrine of the Lutheran Church. All children in the Lutheran Church must study Luther's Small Catechism before they are confirmed in the faith. Adult Christians would do well to read and study the large catechism, which is a brief summary of all Holy Scripture, in order to understand and instruct their children on spiritual and temporal matters; to have a fuller understanding themselves of all Christian doctrine.

Excellent book to delve deeper into the writings of Luther without going to far into the weeds.
